The meeting is an important opportunity to update everyone on best practice in sclerotherapy from the leaders in the field All three clinic sites are working well. At Hillsborough, Fitzwilliam Clinic and Kingsbridge Private Hospital Remember most treatments are available at all these sites. We will be at the British Association of Sclerotherapists meeting in May. And Colin Weir has been asked to lecture on how to make foam sclerotherapy a success. Updates to follow after the meeting EVENING EDUCATIONAL EVENTS at Fitzwilliam Clinic, Belfast on Varicose Veins
Tues 17th April and 12th June 6:30pm Contact the clinic to book a place. We will give brief talks on the techniques available and undertake quick consultations and advice. One fact that is widely accepted by UK and Ireland experts in vein treatment is the need for ultrasound scanning prior to any treatment. This is also known as Doppler scan, Duplex scan, Colour Doppler: they all mean the same thing
Ultrasound helps to decide if laser, radio frequency, or ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy treatment is possible. These are recommended FIRST line treatments when possible, using the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) criteria. If you don't have a scan, you can't realistically have these treatments considered. We now know that even with THREAD veins, a scan is usually required as up to 25% of patients have underlying vein disease that may need dealt with first. To find out more and find what our experts can offer you, make an appointment by visiting the contacts page The team are just back from the annual meeting of the British Association of Sclerotherapists. The meeting took place in The Ark conference centre in Basingstoke.
It was good to meet and interact with the leading experts in sclerotherapy and all types of vein treatment. We continue to provide treatment in line with the standards set out by the group. This includes laser, radio frequency and foam treatment which still are the recommended techniques for most patients with varicose veins. It was again emphasised the importance of ultrasound assessment of veins before any treatment and we continue to undertake this as part of our routine assessment. For more information and consultations please visit the contacts page Our new videos are ready and available to view on the web site.

This evening we had the opportunity to present the latest information and techniques to Beauticians and Beauty Therapists at Kingsbridge Private Hospital.
This give us a chance to discuss modern varicose thread and facial vein treatment. We explained the importance of proper surgeon assessment and ultrasound, providing a one stop service for treatment planning. Some in the audience had experience in treating facial veins but didn't realise that leg veins require a completely different approach. One that we provide. |
