Fitzwilliam Clinic, Lisburn road Belfast alternate Fridays all day

Kingsbridge Private Hospital, treatments at Kingsbridge Diagnostic and Treatment Centre near the Old Kings Hall, Belfast and Consultations at No6 Lisburn Road, Belfast

I am currently a member of
The British Association of Sclerotherapists
The Venous forum of The Royal Society of Medicine
The European Venous Forum

as well as Fellowship Of Royal Colleges of Surgeons Edinburgh and England

I continue to be a leading expert in all types of vein treatment, including microsclerotherapy, foam sclerotherapy, ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy, endovenous laser and radiofrequency ablation. I still very very occasionally undertake surgery to the veins only when a specific need arises.

The vast majority of patients are treated without the need of surgery under general anaesthetic or involving wounds or scars on the leg.

We are pleased again to be attending the UK and Ireland's main clinical meeting for sclerotherapists in May 2019 at Dorney Lake, Windsor. We have both presented to this meeting and are speaking again to the expert audience.

The meeting is an important opportunity to update everyone on best practice in sclerotherapy from the leaders in the field

Importance of Ultrasound in Vein treatment

2/5/2016

One fact that is widely accepted by UK and Ireland experts in vein treatment is the need for ultrasound scanning prior to any treatment. This is also known as Doppler scan, Duplex scan, Colour Doppler: they all mean the same thing

Ultrasound helps to decide if laser, radio frequency, or ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy treatment  is possible. These are recommended FIRST line treatments when possible, using the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) criteria. If you don't have a scan, you can't realistically have these treatments considered.

We now know that even with THREAD veins, a scan is usually required as up to 25% of patients have underlying vein disease that may need dealt with first.

British Association Of Sclerotherapists

1/5/2016

The team are just back from the annual meeting of the British Association of Sclerotherapists. The meeting took place in The Ark conference centre in Basingstoke.
It was good to meet and interact with the leading experts in sclerotherapy and all types of vein treatment.
We continue to provide treatment in line with the standards set out by the group. This includes laser, radio frequency and foam treatment which still are the recommended techniques for most patients with varicose veins.
It was again emphasised the importance of ultrasound assessment of veins before any treatment and we continue to undertake this as part of our routine assessment.

Presentation to Beauty Therapists

27/4/2015

This evening we had the opportunity to present the latest information and techniques to Beauticians and Beauty Therapists at Kingsbridge Private Hospital.

This give us a chance to discuss modern varicose thread and facial vein treatment. We explained the importance of proper surgeon assessment and ultrasound, providing a one stop service for treatment planning. Some in the audience had experience in treating facial veins but didn't realise that leg veins require a completely different approach. One that we provide.
