We are pleased again to be attending the UK and Ireland's main clinical meeting for sclerotherapists in May 2019 at Dorney Lake, Windsor. We have both presented to this meeting and are speaking again to the expert audience.
The meeting is an important opportunity to update everyone on best practice in sclerotherapy from the leaders in the field
All three clinic sites are working well. At Hillsborough, Fitzwilliam Clinic and Kingsbridge Private Hospital
Remember most treatments are available at all these sites.
We will be at the British Association of Sclerotherapists meeting in May. And Colin Weir has been asked to lecture on how to make foam sclerotherapy a success.
Updates to follow after the meeting

One fact that is widely accepted by UK and Ireland experts in vein treatment is the need for ultrasound scanning prior to any treatment. This is also known as Doppler scan, Duplex scan, Colour Doppler: they all mean the same thing
Ultrasound helps to decide if laser, radio frequency, or ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy treatment is possible. These are recommended FIRST line treatments when possible, using the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) criteria. If you don't have a scan, you can't realistically have these treatments considered.
We now know that even with THREAD veins, a scan is usually required as up to 25% of patients have underlying vein disease that may need dealt with first.

The team are just back from the annual meeting of the British Association of Sclerotherapists. The meeting took place in The Ark conference centre in Basingstoke.
It was good to meet and interact with the leading experts in sclerotherapy and all types of vein treatment.
We continue to provide treatment in line with the standards set out by the group. This includes laser, radio frequency and foam treatment which still are the recommended techniques for most patients with varicose veins.
It was again emphasised the importance of ultrasound assessment of veins before any treatment and we continue to undertake this as part of our routine assessment.

We have made a few updates to the Web Site. We have changed our pricing for self paying consultations-downwards!
This evening we had the opportunity to present the latest information and techniques to Beauticians and Beauty Therapists at Kingsbridge Private Hospital.
This give us a chance to discuss modern varicose thread and facial vein treatment. We explained the importance of proper surgeon assessment and ultrasound, providing a one stop service for treatment planning. Some in the audience had experience in treating facial veins but didn't realise that leg veins require a completely different approach. One that we provide.
Our clinic at The Townhouse will be offering the latest in laser technology and Sapheon Glue for varicose vein treatment. No one else is using this technology in Northern Ireland and builds on our extensive experience in treating veins using a complete range of up to date technologies which are proven for use in large clinical trials.
Without being too technical, we use a 1470nm laser which avoids bruising after treatment. It also can also keep costs down.
Contact the clinic for pricing.
Only surgeons with our training can provide the complete package of care for vein treatment.
It is April Fool's day but no tricks here!
Pricing has been updated on the website, as we know a lot of patients do not have private medical insurance. Also cosmetic treatment of veins will generally not be covered by these policies. We are happy to discuss any of these things and we provide upfront costs for any planned treatment schedule
We have today relaunched The Vein Clinic NI website. It is simplified and easier to navigate. Contact numbers are easier to find and can be clicked on directly when using from a mobile device.
Updates to come on consulting times and new technology
